Joining the Daisy Granny Squares

To join the granny squares, you have two slip stitch options:

Visible Edges (Wrong Side): Slip stitch the front loops of the granny squares together with the wrong side facing you. This creates a visible ridge on the wrong side.

Invisible Join (Right Side): Slip stitch the back loops of the granny squares together with the right side facing you. This creates a smooth, nearly invisible join on the right side.

Border Instructions

The border is worked in joined rounds, always with the right side of the blanket facing you.

Round 1 (8 mm hook): Join yarn in the back loop of the left chain of any chain-2 corner space. Ch 1, sc in the same stitch. Continue working single crochets in the back loops only. Work extended single crochets in the gaps between the granny squares to level out the stitches. In the corners, work sc in the back loop of the first chain, ch 2, sc in the back loop of the second chain. Continue this pattern around the entire blanket. Slip stitch to the first sc of the round.

Round 2 (10 mm hook): Chain 1, slip stitch in the same stitch and continue working loose slip stitches in the back loops. For the corners, ch 2 and skip the chain-2 gaps. Slip stitch to the first stitch to complete the round.

Round 3: Repeat Round 2.

Round 4: Repeat Round 2, except ch 3 in the chain-2 gaps.

Round 5: Repeat Round 4, except ch 3 in the chain gaps, skipping 3 chains. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Final Touches

After completing the border, you can block the blanket using a steamer to ensure it lays flat and the stitches are neat. Blocking will also give the daisy motifs a crisp, finished look.

Enjoy your beautiful Daisy Square Blanket, perfect for cozy evenings or as a lovely handmade gift!
